Go and make disciples…
About the Edges
Hello there – thanks for dropping by! We are the Edge family – Matt, Cal, Beth, Joe and Ben Edge.
We’re 5 different individuals for sure, but as a group we are loud, freckled, imperfect and rarely sitting still. We love following Jesus, playing outdoors, hanging out with friends and eating a lot – especially tacos! We are happiest when we’re right at the heart of local church life, when we’re well connected to our community, and when we’re able to find practical ways to show mercy to people who are suffering.
One of our favourite things to do is invest in other people’s spiritual growth, but we’re hungry to grow more ourselves too.
In September 2023 we made a big move from Scotland to Mexico to try and start a new life there. It has been a massive challenge with many ups and downs but it’s such an enormous privilege to be on this amazing journey with Jesus.
We Edges love an adventure, and this one’s a whopper. Bring it on!

About the ministry
So, why Mexico?
The short answer is that we feel God has called us to Mexico, and specifically to a small rural town in the jungle ‘bush’ on the Yucatan peninsula called Leona Vicario. Some of the long answer can be found in our story told through the blog posts. (Read it here)
We have felt a calling to overseas mission work for many years now, and we’ve been part of several short term missions in different parts of the world, but the time never seemed right to leave the UK long term. Until…
Between 2016 and 2023, God began to speak to us about Mexico and about working alongside our friends Paul and Elaine Little. After many ups, downs and serious delays along the way, finally the green light appeared and the time came to get up and go. Woo hoo!
What will we be doing?
We definitely come to Mexico and long term mission life as novices, not know-it-alls. We have much to learn and every day’s a school day! Our hope is to spend a lot of time building relationships with people and introducing them to a life of following Jesus, as well as showing mercy in practical ways to those who are suffering, but we want to understand our new context properly in order to do this well. There is a great deal of local need, and we’re working now to find our place in offering a sustainable response to that.

Initially our plan is simply to join in with what our friends Paul and Elaine are already doing, alongside learning Spanish and getting to know the people, culture and area better. One pressing local need is for good quality housing. The area is prone to a yearly hurricane season, and many local houses are makeshift, cobbled together from whatever materials people can find – like sticks, ropes, planks of wood and tarpaulins. These structures are no match for a hurricane and families are often left exposed and vulnerable, living in unsanitary conditions. Paul and Elaine work with local church leaders and village elders to identify families who would benefit from a solid, hurricane-proof house, and then they build them with the help of local builders using funds from UK friends and churches.
We have many hopes and dreams alongside building houses. This is a work in progress and it’s early days. We’ll see what develops!
